Due to the continuing nationwide pandemic, outreach for Naming the Homeless has been stalled due to health concerns. Although we haven’t been able to conduct interviews for new content, we never stopped spreading awareness. We have continued to supply local shelters and organizations as the opportuinity has presented itself.
We never stopped caring about our homeless friends. With the recent rise of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, the racial bias and stereotypes that black memebers of the homeless community face on a daily basis was not lost on us.
Despite not being able to share new stories, the creators of Naming the Homeless took advantage of this time to team up with friends and start a new initiative that pushes for awareness and acceptance of the #BlackLivesMatter agenda.
You can join this effort by following Educating for Change on Facebook, which posts weekly kid-friendly educational lessons from African American history to promote inclusion and equal opportunity to education. These videos are live at 12 pm every Wednesday and illistrate the connections between the past and present of the black existance.
Next month on NamingtheHomeless.com, we will be featuring never before seen interviews from our archives that relate to present day social issues. Thank you for sticking around and continuing to name the homeless with us, one story at a time.
Stay safe everyone, and we’ll see you soon.
